People who saw our film and live performances in 2012 told us: “The project should be rolled out nationally” and “I want everyone to be able to see it!” A Life & Deaf poet described “I want to perform in front of all of people in this world, wanna make them understand”. With funding from Arts Council England and Royal Borough of Greenwich we were able to respond to this feedback.
In our latest project, “Life & Deaf: Include me in the world”, we carried out a 17-day UK tour in a beautiful poetry-covered VW camper van called Heidi! From 8th-24th July 2013 we visited schools and organisations across the nation to reach deaf young people, their families and school communities. Each day we also visited Tesco Extra car parks to reach the general public. Our pop-up event included film screenings, live poetry performances, a deaf awareness quiz, i-pad games and lots of deaf awareness freebees. The tour was a huge success – thank you to everyone who joined us and supported us. You can read more about the tour and check out photos and feedback in our UK Tour Blog.
