Jasmine Whipps - How I feelings about being deaf?
My feelings uncomfortable
To always go to the hospital.
Because of lots of checks and machine
Electricity
Shock
I don’t like the noise.
I always love quiet
With cochlear implant off
But my parents always nag nag nag
Put cochlear implant on.
Made my feelings fed up.
But it good that I have lots of deaf friends.
I like that I can sign with my deaf friend
And hearing friend who can sign.

Kasey Cadd - Come on ,what are you deaf?
“Come on, what are you, deaf”?
“Yeah I AM actually!”
“What is this... a joke?”
“No, I’m serious!”
“You having a laugh?”
I can’t hear a drum roll!
“What did you say?”
Come on turn it up
You know you want to!
Tell people you really are what you are
When you are on stage they give you the script
they tell you the words to say
I’m not backstage
I really AM deaf
Some people Who play Dr Who are really doctors
I’m not acting, it’s true
THat means I won't be getting an Oscar for this part
(not like Colin Firth!)
I AM who I AM
Be grateful
You are Who you are
Be grace-full
I AM who I AM, OK? ( shout this)
Be proud
Leave it out, chill and relax
Don’t GO in the crowd.
Come on
What are you, hearing?
Yeah I AM actually
I’m hearing you saying you’re deaf
And brave.

Elisha Ademola-Anwo - My Life
My life is cool
But people call me a fool
Mt Mum and Dad are so rad
My age is eleven but my niece is almost seven
My sisters are so strong but they have a gang
My older brother has lots of weight and he is getting a lot of height
So now I tell you my life is cool now
Nobody ever calls me a fool

Chris Packer - Only the one me
I can’t really hear the wind much
Can’t really hear the bird
Can’t really hear quiet whispering much
Can’t really hear what u said.
I can’t really hear frog croak
Can’t really hear foot step
Can’t really hear people calling me from far
Can’t really hear cars driving up and down
That without my hearing aids.
With my hearing aids ...
I can hear everything close to me
but not far away.
Sometimes people don't understand
what I say.
When people shout near my ears
I feel a little bit of pain.
My brother makes my hearing aids fall out
He makes me insane!!!
There's only the one me
Everyone knows me from the DSC!
I've got hearing aids
I don't know why.
If I don't have batteries
My hearing aids will die ...
Bye bye!

James Jordan - Communicating with our hands
Hi! My name is James.
I am full deaf and half hearing
profoundly deaf on my right
and half deaf on my left.
My mum is a bit full deaf.
My dad is profoundly deaf
when you can’t hear nothing
like your hearing just went gone.
All you hear is nothing.
My brother is hearing.
He hears everything.
He answers the phone!
He answers the door!
It feels ok being deaf and I like being deaf.
Hearing aid really helps me hear.
I can hear more than my mum and dad.
My family use BSL.
if they don’t understand they just ask me
I sign it to them
I just talk for them.
I sign for my mum and dad when they really need help.
A bit proud and a bit embarrassed
when other people start to look.
They be thinking how can they communicate with their hands?
At home I sign
at school I speak.
I can hear what everybody’s saying
but not everything.
If I don’t really get ‘em
I get my friends to help me
or I just come up close
and say SPEAK UP LOUDER!

Michael Lawrence - My Two Magicians
Peace at last with my two magicians
One in my left and one in my right
One day you won’t even feel it
Believe you can hear and you will hear
Only with your two magicians
Quiet or loud your magicians will do it
BE GRATEFUL!

Monique Noel - I AM..........
I am quiet,
I don’t chat that much
Don’t know why.
I am lonely,
In the future you never know
May have more friends or not.
I am special,
Was born early and very tiny.
Not I am big and tall.
I am sporty,
I like netball, tennis and swimming.
My family think I am a fast runner.
I am a hearing aid user.
It’s not so bad...
if I’m not the only one.
I’m clever,
I can lip-read and
listen carefully.
THAT’S ME

Calvin Adisa - Maybe Calvin?
I am a great lip reader
It’s sometimes hard to hear.
I am a hearing aid wearer
They help me to hear my own speech
And others too.
I am entertaining
At my sister’s 7th birthday
I played games with her friends.
I am a video game player
Addicted to Black Ops
Play it every day.
I am careless
I lose something, then find it, then lose it again.
I drive my Mum mad!
I am a macaroni and cheese pizza lover
My favourite food.
I am a professional texter
Shortening words –
C U L8R M8
I am lucky
Might be in America for Christmas.
How exciting!
THAT’S ME FOLKS!

Sian Johnson - Being Deaf
I can't help being deaf.
People say "push your hearing aid in" because it whistles a lot.
People shout at me because I didn't hear the word they said.
I find being deaf is boring.
The don't know what it's like being deaf.
Going to hospital,
Going to school and going to the base
And not going to your friends.
I don't want any friends because I feel happy on my own.
Some of them laugh at me especially the boys.
They're always saying and signing "you are a naughty little deaf girl."
I don't do anything about it.
My sisters say to me deaf swear words.
My twin sister, we're very different.
But I don't mind anyway.
I can't help being deaf.

Pierre - What’s life & deaf like?
I find it hard being deaf
There’s no way of one getting away from it
Because we are deaf
It is in us
And we find it hard sometime
But we are still the same
We can still do the same
Just with more help
But we can still do it
So that’s one good thing about it
We can all do the same thing together!
People who are not deaf
Don’t know what it like to be deaf
But I know what it like
If I explain about it to them
They know what life is like
It can be dreadful and very hard sometime
In a little way it can be good
That’s what life and deaf is like!

Nadeem Islam - Deaf Poem
When I was born, my sister teach me BSL
I grew to be proud but feel scared.
People might bully me and I won’t understand people talking.
I am bit sad because people will speak fast.
I am bit happy because I will get new friend.
I am bit stress because I have to change my hearing aid batteries.
I am bit lucky to get CSW and Social Worker.
I got too many feelings from being deaf!
But I’m still proud to be deaf.
Still powerful,
Still happy.
My family always there for me, also friends, to help me.
I not scared,
I not sad,
I not stress,
anymore.

Nadeem Islam - Deaf feeling
Deaf people is powerful
Enormous brain and strong heart
Amazing gift from them
Fast, strong, smart is deaf
Deaf can be smart than hearing
Radio aid and batteries make me angry
Changing volumes and pump the tube keep me mad
Don’t be mad and sad – frustrated
You still got power in your ear
Strong brain got full of memory in the brain
Being deaf is different from hearing people
Stop bully deaf people
Stop giving bad thing to deaf people
Stop making fun of deaf people
Stop making deaf people become bully
Hearing and deaf are friend
Good friend
I happy to be deaf
My mum happy
My sister happy
My friend happy

Harry Roberts - If you are born deaf
If you are born deaf, you will get a double hearing aid
The moulds are nice and cool and soft.
If you are frustrated don’t pull out your hearing aids,
They cost a lot of money!!
Do not pull out your moulds
You might lose them!
Don’t throw out your hearing aid
‘Cos they break easily!
Someone might scream down your ear
I got a cat and she deaf because I scream down her ear!!!!!
Don’t hit deaf people in the ear!
Don’t shout at deaf people to make them understand
It makes it harder
Talk slowly and carefully
The end
